Ecomerchant, the environmental builders merchant, has developed what it claims is the first affordable timber triple glazed window accredited by the Forest Stewardship Council.

The company said the slim-profile FSC pine window costs the same as a standard timber double glazed unit.

It was developed by Ecomerchant’s joinery business making windows and doors, which has been launched as a new branch.

The company’s premises are in Blean Woods in Kent, where for the past 10 years it has sold eco-friendly building and decorating materials.

Ecomerchant director Tim Bolton said: “As Building Regulations move us ever closer to carbon neutral homes, this new window gives buildings the thermal performance needed without harming the environment or hurting the budget. Our vision has always been to make sustainable materials accessible to everyone.”
