The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) has re-scheduled its annual convention to coincide with WoodBuildChina.
The move will give US companies exhibiting at the show a double opportunity to reach buyers in the lucrative and growing Chinese market.
AHEC’s convention, which will now be held on June 22-23 in Guangzhou, is expected to attract more than 40-50 AHEC members. Some 30-40 US wood suppliers will then exhibit at WoodBuildChina on June 27-30.
AHEC will jointly promote the convention and WoodBuildChina to Chinese buyers to ensure maximum exposure for US hardwood companies.
Ted Rossi, AHEC chairman, said the Chinese furniture and flooring sectors were growing by 20-30% annually.
He said: “I think the increase in demand in China and the potential there is more important to our industry than any other single factor in Far East Asia. The numbers for furniture and flooring extrapolate out to a tremendous market five years from now for American hardwoods.”
