Albertani UK spokesperson Michael Stubbs predicted the collaboration, named Fabric 1st, could elevate Albertani into a leading supplier of glulam and cross-laminated timber (CLT) structures in the UK.
To date, much of Albertani’s UK business has been supplying stock beams via agent NFP Europe Ltd.
Mr Stubbs said the creation of a UK office for Albertani and the recruitment of former Pasquill project manager Richard Volonterio as Albertani’s UK and Ireland commercial projects manager now positioned the Italian brand to replicate its project business success in mainland Europe, where it has worked with leading architects on large timber build projects.
EnergeticUK, which recently recruited former Vinci Construction UK managing director Chris Pape, is targeting local authority/school, community, commercial and private sectors.
"What tends to happen at the moment is no-one is responsible for signing off the integrity of the frame and envelope in terms of energy-efficiency, airtightness and environmental performance," said Peter Griffiths, Energetic’s managing director.
"The aim with Fabric 1st is to supply the frame and envelope which is fully signed off by Fabric 1st at a price which is more competitive than conventional systems. It requires a high level of quality control and expertise in building physics, but it can be done."
Mr Griffiths said Energetic was talking to many key contractors and specifiers about Fabric 1st’s capabilities and was already looking at some "exciting projects".
He said build costs could be reduced to under £900/m2 for a single-storey free-form building with a green roof and external cladding.
Lime Technology brings its Hembuild timber frame/Hemcrete panels build solution to the collaboration, while Energetic is sourcing high-performance doors and windows from northern Europe.
