The machine bought by Clifford Jones for its new plant in Ruthin is a nine-head, 13-tonne model. The moulder is now in place and, according to AMS director Steve McGloin, is currently being connected to a new Indusvent dust extraction system.
"We unveiled our Kentwood connection and showed our first machine at W12, so it’s exciting and gratifying that we’ve already had orders for our our first two, including the nine-head at Clifford Jones," he said.
"Kentwood machines are manufactured in Taiwan, so have an edge over rivals on price, and they have the added benefit of being quality controlled by US owner Stiles and the fact that we are spec’ing products for UK customers and handling sales, marketing and supply here totally autonomously. It is very much our brand."
Kentwood also brings AMS a range of handling equipment, and tooling technology as well as the moulders.
"As we’re selling service contracts with the machines – and service is still our primary business – it really does make us a one-stop shop for the moulder market," said Mr McGloin.
AMS cannot yet disclose which company has bought its second Kentwood moulder, but says it is a five-head machine. The full range, said Mr McGloin, ran from entry-level four-sided planer moulders, to machines capable of running at 350m/min.
The company has recently moved to larger, new premises in Skeffington and will soon start work extending the building to accommodate a new working showroom, where machines being demonstrated will include a Kentwood moulder.
"We will also include a larger facility for our training courses, which not only cover machinery operation, but a range of other topics, from fork lift truck operation to working at height," said Mr McGloin.
