Entitled Bad Hair, the pavilion has been designed by AA Intermediate Unit 2 student Margaret Dewhurst, who was inspired to create the structure while drying her hair.
To go on display at Bedford Square in London, Bad Hair will feature curved Kerto, similar to that used for Will Alsop’s Architects’ Pavilion at Interbuild 2006, which will form the structural and aesthetic elements of the design.
Warren Dudding, Finnforest‘s head of marketing, said that Bad Hair would “surprise and delight” visitors to the AA’s Projects Review summer exhibition, which will be held July 6-27 in Beford Square.
Kerto LVL was also used as a key component in last year’s AA summer pavilion, which featured identically shaped but different sized ‘leaves’ produced from the lumber.
