BASF is on target for another year of record financial results by achieving a 6% growth in third-quarter operating income before special items to €1.7bn.
The chemicals giant, which has a number of products for the wood industry in its Performance Products division, saw sales grow by 5% to nearly €14bn during the period.
The third quarter represented BASF’s 16th consecutive quarter of sales and earnings growth, with the company looking to achieve sales in 2007 of €58bn.
Earnings in the Performance Products division decreased by 9% due to higher costs and a decline in North American residential housing construction and automobile production.
“We want to continue to grow faster than the market,” said BASF chief financial officer Dr Kurt Bock.
