With over 200 delegates in attendance, Alex Brock, pre-construction manager at B&K Structures, will discuss the use of timber within current and proposed building regulations, highlighting Hardman Square and The Gramophone Works as exemplary projects.
The importance of maximising the use of timber in construction has never been more apparent, and organisers Forum for the Built Environment (FBE), now in its 76th year, offers attendees the opportunity to learn more about the use of mass timber in construction.
The event will focus on three key themes relating to timber within the built environment – MMC Design for Manufacture, Carbon Neutrality and Structural Innovations, and will include four keynote speakers, including B&K Structures’ Alex Brock. He will explore his experience and successes with implementing timber into hybrid constructions.
The first event in an annual series of FBE Greater Manchester events exploring the use of different materials in innovative ways, Unconventional Materiality: Timber A European Perspective will challenge, discuss and educate on the premise that timber can provide a pragmatic solution to the issues surrounding sustainability and carbon consciousness.
