B&K Timber Structures (BKTS) has been nominated for a National Business Award less than a year after being established.

It has made the shortlist in the IMechE Business Innovation of the Year category for its on-site handling procedures, 3D software and post-processing techniques.

BKTS was set up by B&K Steelwork Fabrications in February, and has already undertaken a number of high-profile projects, including an Asda eco store in Oldham and J Sainsbury plc’s flagship eco store in Dartmouth.

The award recognises the company that can best demonstrate an ability to create and develop innovations that substantially improve its commercial performance.

The winners will be announced in London on November 18.

BKTS was shortlisted in this year’s TTJ Achievement in Engineered Timber Award for its Asda and Sainsbury’s stores.
