B&Q’s sales for the 13 weeks ended November 2 were up 0.8% to £915m, with retail profits growing 7.9% to £63m.

Kingfisher said B&Q’s outdoor seasonal product sales were down around 8%, following strong sales (+17%) in the previous quarter. Indoor product sales grew by around 3%.

Kingfisher’s Screwfix business performed strongly, with sales up by 21.1% (like-for-like sales up 11.1%) to £180m. Nine more Screwfix outlets were opened during Q3, bringing the branch total to 303.

“Following a mixed first half, we have seen growth in both sales and profits in our third quarter, one of our most significant trading periods in the year,” said Ian Cheshire, Kingfisher group chief executive.
