The Brazilian Forest Stewardship Council has been launched in a bid to bring more felling operations in the South American country under FSC certification.
Board directors of the new organisation include WWF, Greenpeace, a Brazilian rubber tappers’ organisation, a timber exporting company and a paper firm.
Meanwhile, Greenpeace has delivered aerial pictures of alleged illegal mahogany felling to the Brazilian assistant attorney-general.
