A management team from hardwood distributor Brooks Bros (UK) Ltd have visited the Norwegian production facility of modified timber producer Kebony.
The company, the sole UK distributor of Kebony, made the journey to understand the modification process of the product, which is proving popular in internal and external joinery applications.
In September Kebony won the TTJ Excellence in Marketing Award.
“There is now a big call to work with products that not only perform in terms of strength and aesthetics but it is also important to use products that are also sustainable, low carbon and manufactured in clean environments.” said Andrew Goto, Brooks Bros’ clears and cladding specialist.
The “Kebonization” process involves the treatment of softwood timber with a bio-based chemical which polymerises at the wood cell level, creating a new solid material which performs like a hardwood.
