The German Association of the Sawmilling & Timber Industry (BSHD) has increased its membership by 25% through the creation of a division for thermally-modified wood.

Bikos GmbH, Firstwood GmbH, Hagensieker Ltd, Krottenthaler GmbH & Co KG, Menz Holz GmbH & Co KG and Timura Holzmanufaktur GmbH formed the division on February 4.

The group will engage in political lobbying and publicise the benefits of heat-treated wood.

The Institute of Wood Technology in Dresden and the Leibniz University of Hannover supported the division’s formation.
