The British Woodworking Federation has targeted 5,000 housebuilders, local authorities and housing associations with an updated version of its successful guide to timber windows.

The new ‘Timber Windows – Nothing Else Measures Up’ guide draws attention to the key advantages that timber has over PVCu. These include that the production and disposal of timber windows involves no use of hazardous chemicals, while PVCu windows require the use of six of the 15 most hazardous chemicals listed.

The guide also draws specifiers’ attention to the BWF Timber Window Accreditation Scheme, which ties window manufacturers to fabrication and performance standards.
