A Californian man has attempted to commit suicide by jumping in to a wood chipper.
The incident, on May 15, occurred as a tree removal team was working on public land owned by North Heights Hardware Hank in Roseville.
The man, aged 19-21, walked past the chipper as the crew was working and then jumped in to the machine in a bid to end his life, according to local police.
He is currently in intensive care being treated for head and torso trauma.
