Cameroon is expected to re-impose log export quotas on prime species, the latest market report from the International Tropical Timber Organisation says.

Export of lesser-used species is expected to continue.

Sawmills in the country are reported to now have the capacity to process the volume of prime species supplied in the country.

There is also talk that Congo-Brazzaville may follow Cameroon’s move.

Meanwhile, in Gabon there are rumours that the log export ban imposed in April 2010 may be relaxed.
