Mr McKay-Lyons, who is known around the world for his work with modern timber houses, incorporates local materials, technologies and construction practices into his work to create buildings which complement their environments.

His visit to Napier University will also mark the UK launch of his book Plain Modern – the Architecture of Brian McKay-Lyons.

“We are very excited to have such a high profile, inspirational speaker coming to Napier to share his expertise in the use of home-grown timber, a subject of critical importance to Scotland’s forestry, timber and construction sectors,” said Peter Wilson, director of business development at the university’s Centre for Timber Engineering.

“Whether you are an architect, engineer, building contractor, timber supplier or forester, or simply an individual interested in the use of timber in contemporary Building Design, this must-see lecture will be a highlight of the year,” he added.
