Canadian lumber groups have received C$15m to support the country’s softwood producers during the lengthy trade dispute with the US.
Associations acting as liaisons between the government and the lumber industry will receive the cash. During the dispute they have provided legal and policy advice for Canada’s challenge to US duties before the World Trade Organisation and the North American Free Trade Agreement.
The money follows C$341.5m of federal aid already granted to lumber firms, communities and workers.
