For the third year in a row Vancouver-based Canfor Corp is Canada’s largest lumber producer.
Despite production cutbacks and US softwood duties, Canfor produced 2.26 billion board feet last year, up 11 million board feet from 2000.
Production across the industry as a whole fell by one billion board feet last year, according to a survey by Logging and Sawmilling Journal and Wood Markets newsletter.
This was due to restricted access to the UK market and weaker prices.
