A forestry development blueprint drawn up by the Chinese government aims to see forest cover increase to more than 26% by 2050.
The decision to speed up the development of forestry means that by 2010 the forestry coverage rate in the country is expected to reach more than 19%, rising to 23% by 2020.
The aim of the project is to rebuild the country’s mountains and rivers, destroyed by deforestation.
