China needs to make improvements to its timber market in order to maximise the benefits of future trade, an international delegation from the wood and forestry machinery sector has recommended.

The delegation, comprising members from 30 countries, advises more market leadership (including increased use of foreign languages for communicating at an international level); more varieties of products with a complete set of specifications in the market; and the creation of an agency system for foreign agencies to trade their products.

Demand for timber and wood composites is expected to rise dramatically due to development of venues for Expo 2010 and works in Shanghai.
