Responsible procurement policy and certification of non-industrial private forests in the US and Canada will be addressed at Forest Certification Watch’s fifth conference.

“The Frontiers of Forest Certification” conference, exhibition and field tour to be held in Vancouver on March 28-April 2, will also focus on the links between state or provincial-level forest policy and certification, and sustainable management of the boreal forest.

Speakers include British Columbia’s minister of forests Mike de Jong; chairman of Forest Stewardship Council-International David Nahwegahbow; and president of the National Woodlands Owners Association & National Forestry Association Keith Argow.

The conference will be preceded by the 17th edition of the Annual Global Forest Industry Conference run by PricewaterhouseCoopers, also in Vancouver.

The field tour will feature a visit to certified forestry and processing operations in the Kamloops region of the BC interior. A one-day training workshop in forest certification will also take place on March 31.
