At the quay’s official re-opening, Mayor of Copenhagen Klaus Bondam said use of FSC wood was in line with the city’s sustainable construction policies.

WWF Denmark’s Jacob Sterling said Copenhagen was the first Danish community which had invested time and energy into finding legal and sustainable timber from rainforests.

The FSC timber, which originated from Cameroon, was supplied by Dutch timber company Wijma Kampen BV.

Kampen’s Wim Hup said he hoped other projects would follow the example of Copenhagen and also source FSC-certified wood.
