Baltic timber imports handled by Denholm Shipping Services Ltd at Avonmouth Docks are on the increase.
The company, which is responsible for the management and operations of the N Berth forest products terminal, expects volumes to increase from last year’s 30,000m3 to about 45,000m3 in 2003. The timber is mainly construction grade and also some panel products.
Gary Tranter, Denholm’s south-west director, said: “It further increases our position in the UK timber trade.”
Denholm was recently appointed ship agent for ro ro line Wallenius Wilhelmsen. A fortnightly service now calls into Royal Portbury Dock with forest products, including small volumes of timber from the US.
