Representatives from across the timber industry have been updated on responsible management and use of natural resources at ProForest’s recent Summer Training Programme.

The event attracted more than 50 people, including traders, processors, retailers, NGO officials, World Bank staff and academics, with delegates coming from more than 30 companies spread across 19 countries. They received training on chain of custody, auditing, forest certification standards and responsible purchasing over five days.

As well as attending seminars, delegates undertook a forest trip and other field exercises that gave them hands-on training.

The 2008 Summer Training Programme is scheduled to take place from July 21-25.
