Construction of DONG Energy’s new offices and warehouse will start this month, just weeks after Rowlinson Timber moved from part of the Royal Dock site to its new base at Groveport, Gunness (TTJ November 30/December 7, 2013)

ABP has hailed DONG’s Grimsby commitment, saying the Humber was leading the way in the development of offshore wind. ABP also said the 25-year agreement, coupled with huge investment in the Grimsby River Terminal, demonstrated that the Port of Grimsby was at the forefront of meeting the government’s industrial strategic focus on the offshore wind and automotive sectors.

ABP recently responded to timber importing trade concerns about a squeeze on port space for the sector in favour of renewable energy and other developments. ABP Humber port director John Fitzgerald said the timber trade formed a key component of its Humber Ports’ business development strategy.

Rowlinson’s new base at Gunness gives it increased storage space, more berths, better transport links for onward distribution and new high-pressure treatment facilities.
