Donaldson Timber Engineering (DTE) has closed its Irish operation with loss of 14 jobs.
Parent company James Donaldson & Sons said the decision to close the 20,000ft² production facility in Mount Mellick, County Laois was prompted by the severe downturn in the Irish housing market.
“It’s always desperately disappointing when one has to close down an operation,” said chairman Neil Donaldson. “However, everyone is aware of the difficulties in the housing market in Ireland and it’s always important that we respond to these challenges in a way that gives the group the best long-term future.”
