One of the world’s leading authorities on resins used in wood-based panel manufacture has been murdered while on holiday in Honduras.

Swedish national José Gomez-Bueso, chief scientist with Dynea’s Research Group in Lillestrom, Norway, was murdered on December 28.

Mr Gomez-Bueso, who originally came from Honduras, was attacked and shot in an attempted robbery.

A Dynea spokesman described Mr Gomez-Bueso as a talented and dedicated employee who was a major contributor to the company and also said that he was a dedicated family man.

Rob Elias, director of the BioComposites Centre, Bangor Wales, and acting co-director of the Welsh Institute for Natural Resources, said that Mr Gomez-Bueso was a well-known contributor to the EPPS/IPPS conferences and also supported Cost Action E49.
