The company will commence harvesting and wood procurement operations in the first quarter to build saw log inventory for the mill.
In preparation for the reopening, refurbishment and sawmill equipment upgrades and staff recruitment will take place before the end of this year.

"Our goal is to create an efficient operation capable of continuous production during both strong and weak markets," said president and CEO Rick Doman.

The Domtar-owned sawmill closed in December 2009 under the collapse of the US housing market and Eacom bought the mill in 2010.
