Environmental support services company fountains plc has sponsored the carving of a red cedar eagle by a hereditary chief of the Nisga’a nation from British Columbia.
Chief Alver Tait, of the Eagle-Beaver clan, spent three days working on the carving, which was then unveiled at a special ceremony in the new Wellcome Trust Gallery inside the British Museum.
Barry Gamble, chairman of fountains plc, said: ” The art of totem pole carving which the Nisga’a people practise, is we feel, emblematic of their commitment to the principles of sustainable management.”
