Much of LP’s stand was constructed with laminated strand lumber (LSL), showing the capabilities of the product, while several new OSB products and exterior claddings were also on display.
"LSL is the most versatile product we have," said Al Huber, LP’s EWP international sales manager.
"And it is lower cost than LVL but does the same job. We are finding many weird and wonderful applications for it."
Mr Huber said one architect at Ecobuild liked the aesthetics of LSL and wanted to use it for a staircase.
The material is also being used in door stiles and rails, while the likes of Caterpillar and Ford use it for crates and packaging because it holds connectors well, is straight and resists splitting.
On the OSB front, LP showed Top Notch, a floor deck product with drainage channels and Deco Wall – with a decorative painted finish, removing the need to plaster. Flame Resistant features a special overlay to give fire resistance and is designed for timber frame sheathing during construction.
LP’s Outdoor Building Solutions portfolio is the fastest-growing division of LP. Products displayed included a foil-faced OSB panel designed to keep home offices, sheds and garages cool.
As well as SmartSide pre-primed finished cladding, facia boards and trim, LP also had a plastic cladding profile with which it will target the DIY market.
LP’s UK distributors Hawthorn Timber and MBM have shown interest in selling the new OSB products.
