Originally developed by architects dRMM, engineers Arup and timber construction specialists Nüssli and Imola Legno for display outside the Tate Modern gallery as part of the London Design Festival last year, Endless Stair, renamed Scale Infinite, will be on display in Interni Magazine’s ‘Feeding New Ideas in the City’ show from April 7-18.

It will stand outside the Ca’Granda building, one of the main venues for the FuoriSalone Milan Design Week, which is on at the same time.

AHEC also intends the structure, which is built in cross-laminated timber No. 2 common tulipwood, to highlight the structural potential of the specific species and lower grade hardwoods in engineered form.

AHEC European director David Venables also stressed that Scale Infinite moves the project on. “It pushes the design of the CLT elements further by using performance data gathered from the first installation to rearrange the configuration of interlocking flights of stairs, and extend the longest to its limit,” he said.
