Biodiversity will be a key feature at the 4th Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe in Vienna on April 28-30.

Forty-four ministers from forestry departments throughout Europe and representatives of the EU will discuss measures which could contribute towards the protection of biodiversity in Europe’s forests at the Living Forest Summit.

Measures include re-establishing the diversity of species in biologically impoverished forests; analysing and developing protected forest networks; taking action against illegal harvesting and trade; fostering indigenous species of trees; and monitoring biological diversity in forests.
