The event will bring together companies, trade organisations, NGOs and national and local government representatives from across Europe.
Among the speakers will be Heiko Liedeker, head of the Forest, Law, Governance and Trade unit at the European Forest Institute; Carolien Gehrels, deputy mayor of Amsterdam; Peter Dewees, forests adviser at the World Bank; and Alhassan Attah, tropical timber product consultant.
The European STTC aims to increase demand from sustainably managed forests to a mainstream level. It wants to see sustainable management of up to 10 million ha of tropical forest by 2015.
With key partners, it aims to make the business case for certification more attractive for concession holders.
