Arnold Laver Timber World‘s first own-brand cargo arrived at Seaforth Dock, Liverpool recently where it was met by the company’s softwood committee.

The cargo from Latvia consisted of 2,500m³ of unseasoned and kiln dried carcassing, KD CLS, KD PAR Quarter Scant and CCA treated tile battens.

The softwood committee is made up of product experts from each of Timber World’s nine branches. They work together to ensure the company’s softwood purchasing and stock profile is comprehensive, competitive and of high quality.

The shipment, which the committee inspected, is the first of regular imports direct from Latvia and growth in both volume and range is anticipated.

Pat Burke, director and group product controller for softwoods, said: ‘We have chartered a bespoke cargo, consisting of a broad mix of products that will allow us to become a ‘one-stop-shop’ when it comes to customer choice. We have chosen a north-west port, contrary to tradition, as it will better serve our national structure, and fully support our Manchester depot.’
