A national newspaper story announcing that Marks & Spencer is to start selling timber frame home-building kits has been dismissed as “wrong” by the retail giant.
The Daily Mail’s story on December 12 predicted flat-pack kit homes, designed by architect John Pawson, would cost between £30-40,000 at M&S‘s new chain of Lifestores.
However, an M&S spokesperson said the company did not sell builders’ materials.
She said the first Lifestore outlet in Gateshead would feature a full-sized timber frame home designed by Mr Pawson. The plans for the house would be on sale to customers, who then have to source their own architect/builder and materials.
