A distance learning course in Forest Industries Technology has been formally launched and already more than a dozen students have signed up to it.

The course is a joint venture between the School of Agricultural and Forest Sciences University of Wales, Bangor and the Welsh Timber Forum and is funded by Education and Learning Wales (ELWa).

The course, which is supported by a combination of paper-based materials and an interactive website, provides an opportunity to register for post-graduate certificate, diploma or full Master of Science qualification in Forest Industries Technology.

Course director Dr Martin Breese said: “This is a very exciting new initiative for the University and we are very pleased with the success of our partnership with the Welsh Timber Forum.”

The Master’s level course will be launched worldwide on September 1.
