The manufacture of forestry equipment is being shelved at Canam Manac Group’s Tanguay Industries division in Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec.
The company said the decision, resulting in the lay-off of 50 workers, was due to US softwood lumber duties, “stringent” economic conditions in the forestry sector and oversupply. It will assess whether to re-start production in September.
