A Welsh timber frame company has boosted its green credentials by supplying self-build oak frame homes made from FSC-certified timber.

Welsh Oak Frame of Caersws worked with merchant Mick Jones Timber to gain FSC chain of custody certification and plans to use locally-produced FSC timber as well as wood from France and Belgium.

Paul Edmunds, director of Welsh Oak Frame, said: “We believe that by supporting the FSC, and their objectives, we will contribute to the overall success of the wood industries both locally and across the UK. By working and acting locally we can all make a difference.”

FSC-UK director Anna Jenkins welcomed the company’s commitment and said: “As more people become aware of the benefits of using timber to build their home it is vital that they know both where that timber is coming from and that it has been grown and managed in the best possible way.”

Welsh Oak Frame also works with customers to build sun rooms, conservatories, outbuildings and extensions.
