The draft manifesto for the Forestry & Timber Association‘s “A level playing field for forestry” was presented at the association’s recent AGM.
The document, drawn up after four debates on the subject around the UK, will now be taken to a range of rural stakeholders for endorsement.
The final document will be launched at the International Forest Machinery Exhibition in September and will be widely distributed to MPs, MEPs, members of devolved governments and regional development agencies as well as key civil servants in relevant government departments.
Areas where forestry appears to be disadvantaged and where there is hope for change have been identified and the aim is to influence and bring about that change, leading to economic sustainability for forestry.
