A map of Scottish roads most urgently in need of repair and improvement has been published by the Freight Transport Association (FTA).

Key trade routes identified by FTA members include the M74 Glasgow to Rutherglen, the A77 Glasgow to Kilmarnock, the A75 Gretna to Stranraer and the A80 Haggs to Stepps.

The FTA is calling on the government to accelerate work on the routes in its Fifteen Year Transport Delivery report.

Bob Armstrong, the association’s Scottish region director, said: “Road congestion costs Scotland millions of pounds each year and investment in these key trade routes will benefit both industrial efficiency and the national economy.”
