The German Association of the Sawmilling and Timber Industry (BSHD) has met the government’s business secretary to discuss conditions in the German timber industry.
BSHD chief executive Frank Ahnefeld met parliamentary secretary in the federal Ministry of Economics Hartmut Schauerte to talk about conditions for sawmillers and supply of wood raw material.
Also discussed were moves for a successor organisation to Holzabsatzfonds (The German Timber Promotion Fund), which was forced to stop operations in June following a court decision over its funding.
The BSHD also recently used questionnaires to quiz political parties on their policies towards the timber industry in advance of the September federal elections.
