The Ghanaian Timber and Wood Workers Union is calling for government action to stave off more job losses in the industry.
The union says timber companies are threatening more job cuts on top of the 30,000 redundancies already made due to government taxes. It wants to see dialogue between all stakeholders to save the industry from collapse.
