An investigation is being called for into allocation of timber quotas in Ghana.
The Ghana Timber Association (GTA) is urging the government to take action after receiving complaints from its members. It says foreign sawmillers based in the country are being given larger quotas than Ghanaian timber producers.
The GTA wants the ‘discrimination’ of quota allocation stopped or the introduction of an open market for timber producers to sell logs, particularly lesser used tree species.
