Ghana’s government is inviting bids for state-owned Subri Industrial Plantation Ltd, according to the latest International Tropical Timber Organisation market report.
Subri has a sawmill, kilns and 5,137ha of plantations and produces value-added wood products and lumber.
The company was established in 1985 along with gmelina arborea plantations to feed a planned pulp and paper mill in western Ghana.
The mill was never built but the sawmill and wood processing facilities, 40km from Sekondi/Takoradi, have been using the plantation wood.
