The Yorkshire and Humberside TTBS Golf day on May 18 attracted a large field of 20 teams, with some of the 80 golfers coming from as far as London and Carlisle.

Now in its 15th year, the competition started in its present form after the death of Geoff Leafe, a leading figure in the shipping industry and lifelong supporter of the TTBS. Players compete for the first prize of the Geoff Leafe Trophy.

Hawthorn Timber was not only the very generous sponsor but also fielded two teams. Another 18 trade members sponsored holes, with some sponsoring two or three holes each.

The winning team comprised Mark Briggs of Jordesons, Bernard Lowery, Geoff Lyon and Hawthorn joint owner Trevor Stone.

The day raised well over £2,300 for the TTBS and Geoff Leafe’s daughter, Helen Dunn, gave tribute to all the teams that had entered and made it such a great day.
