Malaysian multinational logging company Rimbunan Hijau (RH) has threatened to sue Greenpeace International over a report highlighting its destructive record.
A letter from RH’s lawyers demands an apology for the publication of The Untouchables – Rimbunan Hijau’s World of Forest Crime and Political Patronage.
But Greenpeace maintains the report will stand up in court and has refused to withdraw any of the allegations it has made.
RH has logging interests in Papua New Guinea, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Malaysia, Vanuatu, Indonesia, New Zealand and Russia.
Greenpeace alleges that RH uses tactics such as political corruption and abuses of human rights within its operations.
