Fire door manufacturer Halspan Ltd has successfully demonstrated that its doors can perform throughout their service life following testing by Chiltern Dynamics.

A Halspan fire door was subjected to 500,000 opening and closing cycles to simulate the equivalent of a busy hospital, under BS EN 1191:2000.

The door achieved class 8 (heavy duty) under BS EN 14600:2005 (doorsets and openable windows with fire resisting and/or smoke control characteristics).

It then underwent fire resistance testing to BS 476-22:1987 in Chiltern International Fire’s new vertical fire resistance furnace. The door was set to open inward towards the fire, yet still passed.
