Timber handrail and balustrade specialist Handrail Creations has announced an investment in wireless AI-driven 3D scanning technology in order to boost performance and efficiency.

With Handrail Creations currently managing about 160 live projects across the UK, the additional advanced processor is there to increase the capacity and capability of project delivery.

The 3D scanner is used on two-thirds of Handrail Creations’ jobs, allowing the specialist team to take highly accurate digital measurements of complex staircases, including 3D curved and twisting designs. The 3D scanner is especially crucial where no original drawings exist, such as if a concrete stair is cast-in-situ, or a timber staircase being refurbished.

Handrail Creations says the advanced AI features, speed and accuracy of the technology helps streamline many processes. The digital scan data forms the foundation of Handrail Creations’ CAD modelling process, allowing the team to create precise 3D models of bespoke handrail and balustrade systems before manufacturing begins.

This upgraded 3D scanner comes after Handrail Creations’ factory expansion success in summer 2025, where over £500,000 was invested to refurbish the entire building.
