Rising demand for Wolf Systems’ smartroof prefabricated timber roof system has allowed Harlow Timber Engineering to restart production at its Kettering factory.

The purpose-built factory had opened in 2008 but the housebuilding downturn forced Harlow into a dramatic rethink of its plans and it locked the doors of the plant until reasonable demand returned.

As business improved, Harlow managing director David Stockell said he noticed that roof systems were being specified in place of traditional roofing methods. This led to its becoming a smartroof licensee and manufacturing the product at its Bardon plant.

“Now demand for smartroof has increased to such an extent that we’ve been able to open the Kettering factory to exclusively produce smartroof for our customers.”
