The housebuilding industry will start to experience a recovery in 2010, according to a new research report.

The report, published by AMA Research, predicts house completions to fall by around 25% this year and by a further 4-5% in 2009, before starting to grow again.

“It is inevitable that confidence among housebuilders will be slow to recover from the current downturn,” says the report.

“Developers will be reluctant to risk a major increase in new dwellings until they are convinced that any recovery is both robust and sustainable, particularly as company balance sheets will be considerably weaker than prior to the downturn.”
